Three months, three events and what a race we have for the 2011 titles, Ladies and Gentlemen!
It’s like 2010 never left off.
In the Open, defending champ Jarrod Horner has sprung from the barrier to take the early lead, but right on his tail are Kim Anderson, Tyler Barnes and Matt Cook.
In the Juniors, Reece Moffat is head and head with Jacob Boylan, while the SuperGroms is a three-way tussle involving Eathen Jackson, Dion Earle and Ben Boylan.
The surfing levels are so dramatic and the competition so fierce that not even Centrebet is taking wagers on the final outcome!
The April pointscore saw Tyler snatch victory from Cookie on the final wave, with Jarrod third and Kim fourth.
The big upset was Mel Hatheier’s surge through the heats and semis to grab a spot in the final, and finish up with an outstanding fifth spot.
The standout manoeuvre of the day was an impeccable 360 followed by two big re-entries from Jarrod.
Reece was pushed all the way in the Junior final, edging Jacob, Nathan Martin and Harrison Martin.
Roan O’Sullivan rose to the occasion in the Groms final, slotting first ahead of Dion, Ben, the fast improving Travis Heaps, Ethan and Marcus Moffat.
Puresea Surf Shop vouchers went to Rohn and Dion, while Reece and Tyler took home STC boardshorts.
So it’s now on to 7-8 May.
