The Club’s Annual General Meeting was held on Saturday 14 January and the outcomes included:
- The Financial Report from Secretary-Manager Carol Gillespie showed the Club finished season 2016 debt free.
- It was agreed that the esteemed, much loved and much missed Dr John Murray will remain the Club’s Patron forever.
- Membership fees for 2017 season will be $60 (Open, Over 40s) and $40 (Juniors and SuperGroms). The Family membership fee remains at $100.
- Only paid-up members who have signed their 2017 Membership Form will be allowed to compete.
- Surfers are requested to download the 2017 Membership Form from the Shoes website, fill it in the details and provide when paying fees.
- Rules for Contest Season 2017 remain the same as those in 2016.
- Trophies for season 2017 will go to the Top Four surfers in each division.
- The Presentation Night will be held in late November rather than early December to allow more members and their family and friends to attend.
- The entry fee per person for the Presentation Night will be a $2 gold coin.
- New T-shirts for season 2017 will be provided free of charge to paid-up members.
- Longtime Shoes member Greg Ferrow and renowned Shire Plumber has signed-on as a new sponsor for season 2017.
- The Shelley Beach Shop (operated by the parents of Shoes surfer Tom Lotter) is keen to be a sponsor in season 2017.
- It was agreed the Club will again support the King of the Beach and the Battle of the Reefs contests in season 2017.
- There will be a barbecue on site at as many contests as possible during season 2017 (courtesy of Reno Gillespie and Guy Turner).
- Sid Cassidy was re-elected as President, Reno Gillespie was re-elected as Vice-President, Greg Ferrow, Johnno Bonello, Mark Campbell and Guy Turner were confirmed as Committee Members, Carol Gillespie was reappointed Secretary-Manager.
- Leah Maclean was reappointed Web Master.
- Ian Macca McDonald was confirmed as the Club’s official photo and video master.
- The AGM officially thanked and honoured the companies that supported and sponsored the Club in season 2016: Only Organic Foods, Tina and Nicole’s Home Delivery, Surf Trading Company, PCC Surfboards, WJ Partners, Vestal, Northies, Tengirri Surf Charters, Triple Bull, Cronulla Travel, Little Parrot CafĂ©.
- Shoes will continue to be a paid-up member of the Sutherland Shire Surfing Association.
