All members have been invited by Cronulla South Public School to pack a picnic, spread a blanket and enjoy its Earth Hour event, which will be held from 5-7pm on this Saturday (Election Day).
It’s all about having some fun but also to highlight concerns over climate change and at the same time encourage children to “think global and act local”. A “nood food” BYO picnic day is a fundraiser for sustainable initiatives at the school. But most of all it’s about connecting the local community and extending the official “lights out” of Earth Hour between 8.30 and 9.30pm.
Raffle tickets will also for sale, with first prize being a custom-made Stuart Paterson-designed surfboard (http://www.pccboards.com.au) made to individual specifications (worth about $700).
Prizes also include a Big Kahuna Performance Longboard, Magma Proshredder (worth $300 from www.streetsup.com.au), a round of golf for four people at the exclusive NSW Gold Club ($680), a personal stylist session with Lee Baker-Louis valued at $200, art classes at Hazelhurst Gallery, a kite from Kitepower, Eco Homewares from Charbella, a Green Cleaning Kit from Secret Scents, a Hydration backpack from The Luggage Warehouse, a Jock Athletic Sports Academy voucher and a custom-made piece of Jewellery from Angie Lou Designs.
