The annual Earth Hour environment initiative is fast approaching, and members are encouraged to participate.
Earth Hour, on Saturday 27 March, aims to have people switch off their lights at home for one hour to signify their support for reducing greenhouse gas emissions (electricity production using coal is a major cause of the pollution).
Carla Grossetti, the wife of Shoes member Robin Moore, tells us that Cronulla South Public School is inviting parents, children and teachers and extended family and friends to a moonlight picnic to mark Earth Hour.
The outing aims to highlight concerns over climate change and encourage everyone to “think global and act local.”
It is due to start from 6.30pm. Bring your own picnics (no alcohol). Entertainment will be provided.
By the way, some 50 million people across 35 countries are projected to participate in this year’s Earth Hour. So you won’t be alone!
