Shoes’ grommet members are not referred to as SuperGroms for nothing.
The way they attack the Reef is inspirational – and their fervour, verve and take no prisoners approach puts the fun back into surfing like no other scenario.
At each new monthly pointscore, the bar is raised in terms of wave-riding action. Not just in the manouevres completed but through their zest for wanting to improve; to push the limits of their ability; to try new tricks.
And all the while, enjoying the moment.

It’s not easy paddling out in overhead waves; with low tide close-outs to contend with; and when some of the riders in your heat have more skills and a longer association with the Shoes break and take-off zones.
The competition for this year’s title is fierce among the more experienced Groms. But pushing from behind are a new batch of youngsters that the Club is equally proud of.
Groms rule! (except when they surf better than you do, of course).
