Forget the ASP, the real world champions for 2012 have already been determined, and will be officially crowned at a lavish presentation event on Saturday 1 December.
The Shoes Showdown for supremacy on the reef was a head-spinning, bone jarring, take no prisoners, give ’em heaps, take a walk on the wildside affair over 10 gruelling months.
So what that the Wave Gods didn’t cooperate fully during the season – it was still a season of madcap wave obliteration that will go down in the annals of surfing history!
Like it’s poor relation the ASP World Tour, the Shoes Global Title Rampage produced a down to the wire scenario of scintillating jostling for the top six positions in four divisions.
You had to be there with your 3D glasses on to believe that a set of world skirmishes for No 1 slot could be so tantalisingly brilliant.
So close were the pointscores at the end that Club mathematician Greg Jack Horner had to reach out to Silicon Valley to have the final numbers verified by the world’s super computer.
At one stage, the experts thought they might have to dig up Einstein to facilitate the final count. In the end, Shoes Accountant extraordinaire Mark Campbell, who also masquarades as Club Marketing Manager, simply put two and two together to arrives at the following results:
