Easter and the Anzac Day long weekends both produced rideable swells, so let’s hope the Wave Gods keep smiling for the next world title event on 3-4 May.
If the Reef is cranking, be assured that the level of wave demolition will be stupendous. And if not that, then outrageous.
Fact is, the fight for supremacy in all three global level divisions is fierce, dogged, immaculate, mind-blowing. Every surfer is throwing down the gauntlet to their competitors. As is the style of competition within the Shoes camp, the take no prisoners approach is leavened with commradeship, fair play and let the best man-woman-child win.
There are, of course, some members that still persist in playing the drop-in card. We know who they are!
Matt Cooke, Rowan O’Sullivan, Dion Earle, Sam Lee, Riley Lee and Maxime Rayer were the standout competitors in the April round. The big question is: Can they keep up the pace or are their hungry foes going to make the May comp their May Day salute?
Tens of thousand of spectators will be there for the showdown, so be early, be ready, be waxed up!
If the Gods are off somewhere else on 3-4, then they will surely be back on deck on 24-25 May.
