Time passes quickly when you’re having fun on the Reef – and here we are at the mid point of the championship season, with all guns blazing.
Going into the next round (4-5 June), Jarrod Horner, Reece Moffat and Roan O’Sullivan are out in front in the Open, Junior and SuperGroms divisions respectively, but with the competition hot on their heels.
As always with the title races at Shoes BR, the battles for supremacy are tight and unpredictable, making every pointscore event vital.
The Reef doesn’t play favourites, so if competitors are not on their game, then the results chop and change.
Witness the success of Dave Moffat in the May event. Dave – father of Reece, Joel and Marcus – came from nowhere to make the Open final!
If the waves are running, standby for pyrotechnics in all divisions this weekend.

Charter to Wave of Paradise
Tengirri have got the surf charter business down pat, according to all who have ventured to the Mentawai Islands.
Tengirri offers 12-day cruises (10 of those for surfing) for around $4,000, with the minimum number of surfers on board set at six. The comfort level is said to be the best in the business.
The 14 metre catamaran provides six separate cabins with two large, fully-shaded decks. Meals are served in a spacious air-conditioned dining area, with all mod cons on board – from flat screen TV, stereo and satellite telephone.
According to Patron Sponsor, John Murray – a frequent wave chaser on the catamaran, Surf charter operators such as Tengirri crew have mastered the art of nautical hospitality, making the experience a true adventure, thanks to the experience and spot-on swell monitoring skills of boa skipper Phil Kiem.
