Tommygun Mulder was firing on all cylinders to make his mark in the opening event of the 2015 World Championship season, with the Reef serving up a continuous flow of challenging swells.
Mulder the Younger had his backside attack going off to claim the Open Division victory ahead of a firing squad of contenders.
Coming in second was former club champion Rhys Moffat, followed by Craig Fry (returning to the contest scene after three years), and reigning tzar of Shoes Matty Cook.
There were blockbuster performances all over the shop, with the continuous lines providing a perfect canvas on to which the Shoes brigade painted a picture of global-class wave riding from start to finish.
The Junior Division clash was no less exciting with a range of sharpshooters letting off enough steam to power every home in Cronulla.
Reigning titleholder Dion Earle reinforced what a super surfer he is by taking every swell by the throat with an avalanche of heavyweight manouevres that had the judges frothing.
But he was pushed all the wave by a bunch of very hungry Junior missiles, including Riley Lee, Travis Heaps, Shannon Hatheier, Henry Fuller and Marcus Moffat.
The size and quality of the swell gave every competitor the chance to unleash their wares – and not one competitor across the contest failed to do justice to the conditions.
The contest – given a royal seal of approval by a big platoon of dolphins that strolled through the line-up when the finals were on – spells wonders for the rest of the season.
