Ok, it’s down to the last event of the year to determine who’s there and who’s square.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, the finale to the 2011 pointscore season is set for 12-13 November, waves permitting.
After seven straight contests, conditions have been hopeless since August, making November the lucky last to sought out the Top Six performers in all three categories.
As stated, if the Reef turns on, then there will be mayhem in the water as a heap of contenders go for broke in the open, junior and supergroms divisions.
There’s prestige, fame and fortune on the line, not to mention trophies, press coverage and prizes.
Let’s face it, after the ASP World Titles, the Sandshoes BR awards are undoubtedly the most globally recognised and hard fought in the surfing universe.
All the people who matter will be at the South Cronulla Bowling Club on Saturday 3 December to applaud the winners. That scenario is enough to ensure that the wave-bashing on 12-13 November is feverish.
Take note that if Huey fails us on that weekend, the pointscore is switched to 19-20 November.
And here’s three cheers to our unbeatable sponsors – they’ve backed all year and deserve the patronage of members and their families: Dr John Murray, Northies, Lipman Construction, Tengirri Surf Charters, WJ Partners, Puresea Surf Shop, KJN Surfboards, PCC Surfboards, STC, Skullcandy, Gando Signs, Cronulla Surf Design, Leo Payne the Sausage King and Greg Ferrow Plumbing
Other big dates to put in the diary:
Shoes Presentation Night – 3 December
Ron Inman Memorial Showdown – 10 December
