The Club’s longest running sponsor – Leo Payne the Sausage King – recently celebrated his 80th birthday.
Leo has been providing free snags to members since the late 1970s. Not any old snag – but premium versions. In fact, Australia-wide famous sausages!
He’s been butcher for more then 60 years, and started his trade at his South Cronulla shop more than 50 years ago.
Back in the early 70s he started making snags on the premises to a secret recipe. People from all over Sydney, the State and the nation have been flocking to his door ever since.
Leo is a legend in his trade, and believed to be the longest full-time practicing butcher in the business.
So next time you’re at a club contest and sample the snags served up by resident chef Paul Martin, savour the taste and quality of the product.
Thanks Leo, we loves you, and we loves your sausages!
