Team Shoes has claimed its third straight victory over Cronulla Point in the Peter Townend World Champ Battle of the Reefs in memory of Dr John Murray.
In wave conditions that went from mediocre to solid on the Reef that Rules, the Shoes brigade did the Club proud with exhilarating performances across all four divisions.
The final scoreline was 1095.5 to Shoes and 865 to the Point.
Like the previous two battlegrounds, both Clubs went hard, fast and furious.
There were short, sharp and sizzling barrels all over the shop, as well as bottom turns, slashes and floaters that Kelly Slater can only dream about.
Both clubs were neck and neck until the final round of heats…a scenario that PT and Dr John would cherish.
The Shoes team hung in there to the last, with blue ribbon performances from Johnno, Blake, Cookie, Reece, Jarrod, Brett, Greg, Luke, Luca, Charlie, Alec, Guy and Samantha.
Big congratulations to all who fought the brave fight and kept the blessed BOTRs trophy in the Shoes cabinet for another 12 months.
