The big question on how the future looks for Sandshoes and the Club is easily answered – we’re on the up and up!
The infusion of Juniors and Super Grommets this season has made a major difference to the ranks, and added a new level of enthusiasm and energy.
You know that all is well with the world when you’re in the line-up and you see a wolf-pack of grommets descending on the scene…the bulk of them members, or at least “family.”
It’s often enough to scare off any beach boys checking the swell from the car park – so there’s added benefit in their numbers and mad scrambling for every wave that moves.
The standard of surfing keeps rising, and so does the spirit of goodwill.
A number of our Open surfers are still young enough to compete in the Juniors but choose to “bat up the order” – a sure sign of the good natured competitiveness that exists in and around the Pavilion and out on the reef.
What is additionally pleasing is that the brothers and sisters of our members are starting to loom as prospective members over the next year or two.
So the New Era is in good hands.
It’s all about looking out for each other – as well as stealing waves off each other.
Check the photo spread for the August event in the Gallery section…sick!
Cheers Sid
