The on again, off again schedule for this year’s King of the Beach championship may have been a pain for organisers and clubs, but Team Shoes still shone through – capturing third place!
Led by Cabo Halyard and Jesse Horner, the mixed-bag squad charged from the outset in challenging wave conditions on the open beaches.
At one stage the team was holding down the runner-up spot but at the close was only a few points shy of second place.
Excellent surfing from Lachlan Hickey, Jesse, Rhys Moffat, Cabo, Tommy Mulder, Andrew Petoumenos, Jedd Felice and Lockie Solomons put Shoes in the frame throughout.
Additional solid performances from Brad Whittaker, Paris Whittaker, Luke Weinet and Kurt Killims added to the Shoes momentum.
The Sharks finished at No 1 followed by Elouera. Christian BRs came in fourth, Garie 5th and The Point 6th.
All in all, a very successful event.
A big congratulations to team members from all at Shoes for their commitment and surfing brilliance!
