Jesse Horner has claimed the 2010 Sandshoes Boardriders Junior Championship, while Nathan Martin has nailed the Super Groms crown.
Horner finished the season with a total of 81 points, despite missing the final event of the year last weekend, which was held in windswept peaks and taken out by Nathan Hathieir.
That pointscore victory was enough to earn Nathan the runner-up spot in the Juniors with 70 points, just pipping Reece Moffat on 66 points.
Rounding out the Top 6 are Harrison Martin (65 points), Tyler Barnes (54) and Jacob Boylan (41).
All the juniors stepped up to the plate throughout the year, with Horner a standout performer in all types of conditions.
Nathan Martin earned the No 1 spot for the year by knocking up a grand total of 85 points – 2 points ahead of Ethan Jackson, who was on fire in winning the November pointscore final. Dion Earle has come in third (67 points), Ben Boylan fourth (54), Roan O’Sullivan fifth (47) and Shannon Hatheier sixth (45).
The standard of surfing displayed by the Groms throughout 2010 has been just spectacular; and is a tribute to their increasing skills and guts for taking on swell of all sizes.
It has been a fabulous season, with the Club holding a full-house of 10 out of 10 pointscores for the first time in its long history.
Remember that the total pointscores for each surfer are based on their best eight results.
The showdown for the Open Title is still pending, with contenders Jarrod Horner and Matt Mulder waxed up and ready to go on the weekend of 20-21.
Leah Maclean and Pauly defied last weekend’s yukky weather to capture all the action in photos and video.
